Well, Hurricane Ike decided to head our way and completely turned Houston upside down. We opted to stay for a series of reasons:
1. Houston was not under mandatory evacuation and in fact it was advised that Houston stay put and "hunker down".
2. I'm 37 weeks pregnant and did not want to get stuck in a grid-lock and go into labor.
3. My doctor said the drop in barometric pressure can induce labor and advised that I stay close to a hospital, stay off my feet, drink a lot of fluids and don't stress.
4. We know our princess will be a c-section delivery since she is breech so I can't exactly risk having to deliver in a car.
All that being said, we are safe and sound. Our only damage was a few shingles off the roof, a few limbs down and no electricity. It was brutally hot in our house and we found out my in-laws have power to we unloaded our freezer into ice chests and headed to Sealy! Aahh...air conditioning!! We are just going to stay put here until we have power again.
